Our purpose is to have fun with fiber. We'll meet others who work with textiles, and educate the public through interactive demonstrations. This will be a relaxed, informal weekend the whole family can enjoy.

See processes in action. Learn how local artists spin, weave, knit, crochet, felt and stitch hands-on. Meet local artists as they demonstrate different fiber arts. Watch sheep being sheared.

Special Hands-on creative area for children and adults to make projects.

EDUCATION
Foster educatino between generations and cultures. Discover ancient techniques such as basketry, spinning and nålebinding. Learn how to wrap a toga, great kilt, and sari.

Festival is a one-stop source for information about local fiber activities, groups, businesses, and classes.

10:30a - Felting a Hat
Julie Slaby of Pieces of String will make a hat using wool roving, water, and elbow grease.
11:30a - The Art of Quilting
Kim Baird shares some of the quilts she has made over the last 30 years, from traditional bed covers to wild and crazy art pieces.
1:00p - Rug hooking
Victoria Jacobson is a professional hooker -- of primitive rugs, that is! Watch her demonstration of rug hooking techniques. Victoria owns AngelGirl a Rug Hooking Studio.
2:30p - Yarn & Fiber Knowledge
Take a crash course on yarns and fibers, and experience the new aloe, bamboo and seacell fibers. Learn how a burn test can identify yarn content, and experiment with dyes. Dr. Jason Wurst of Rocking Horse Farm.
3:30p - Locker Hooking
Margaret from Stitch It Quilts will demonstrate how easy it is to use up strips of those quilting fabrics you wonder why you ever bought in the first place, to make sturdy rugs, pads, pillows and bags.

Any way to speed up the warping process is a great boon to weavers. Come and watch Lil McRae of At Loose Ends get a loom ready in record time.
1:30p - Draped Clothing
Sometimes all it takes to dress yourself is a length of fabric. Properly wrapped and tucked, people around the world make clothing without sewing a stitch. See how!
2:30p - Finishing Touches
Blocking and More for Knits and Fiber Arts
Carole Wurst of Rocking Horse Farms shares master techniques for giving your knit work a professional finish. You may bring a piece to block.
3:30p - Introduction to the Wonders of Lace
Michelle Taylor of bouclé yarn studio gives a bit of the history of lace knitting, a guide to the best yarns, and some tricks to help you get started.
