School Tours
Help history come alive for your students at Bonanzaville where early pioneer life is explored using museum exhibits, historic buildings and artifacts, hands-on demonstrations and experienced docents. Last year, the Cass County Historical Society at Bonanzaville was the educational destination for more than 7,000 students and their teachers. Just a few of the exciting things you can expect from a visit to Bonanzaville include:
- A scavenger hunt that will facilitate cooperation while giving students a goal to focus their attention and energy.
- Over 400,000 artifacts and over 40 historical buildings to provide a valuable glimpse of our history that you can't experience from a textbook.
- A Pioneer Explorers Club sticker for each student that is good for one FREE adult admission allowing them to share the experience again with a parent or friend.
Tours of Bonanzaville are available May through Mid-October to allow for a spring or a fall outing. The special school admission rate is $3.00 per student for any tax exempt organization. All chaperones are FREE of charge. We require a minimum of 1 chaperone for every 6 students. Simply call and reserve your tour time and date.

Not a School?
No problem! We have a similar rate for for-profit organizations (daycare, summer camps etc) with groups of children. It's $3 for children plus tax and adults are free.
Looking for reasons to bring your kids?
It is the mission of Bonanzaville to collect, display and interpret artifacts pertaining to the history and cultural heritage of Cass County (ND) and the Red River Valley. This includes:
- The Native American experience in the West
- Settlement and immigration to the Red River Valley (MN and ND)
- Western expansion and its impact on the prairie
- History and development of agriculture
- History and development of transportation
- Cause and effect of the railroad on the West
- Rise and fall of the bonanza farms
- Life in a pioneer town (1870-1920)
- Homes, schools, general store, hotel etc
- Other topics on history and culture of the Red River Valley. For example, important events, people and business.
